Buddy Merrill World of Guitars. A 2011 remastered edition of the Buddy Merrill classic. All tracks were digitally remastered on this new version.
Buddy Merrill was featured on National Television for 20 years as guitarist with the Lawrence Welk Orchestra. His 'sound on sound' style is based on the Les Paul technique . On this CD Buddy features smooth guitars with strings on standards such as 'Ode To Billy Joe' and also exciting renditions of "Mack The Knife" and "Busy Bee" , Buddy's adaptation of "Flight Of The Bumblebee". His arrangement of "Orange Blossom Special" has a country flavor combined with special effects which make for an outstanding presentation. Buddy used eight different guitars recording this album. Drums and Percussion session players are Earl Palmer- John Klein and Bill Lewis .

Buddy Merrill And His Guitars
Time With You
TIME WITH YOU is a collection of original
compositions in a thematic format. The arrangements of the songs
embody light contemporary rhythms with a light jazz feel. Acoustic
guitars, gut-string guitar, electric guitars and synthesized strings
make up the body of this work. Several of the songs in the CD are
collaborations with other composers.
Let's Turn On Love was co-written with
Zeke Manners, a prolific songwriter and musician . He has written
hundreds of songs including the hit, Pennsylvania Polka. Just A
Touch Of Latin was co-written with Clyde Ridge,a first rate free-lance
jazz pianist. My Foolish Lover was co-written with Anne H. Garbus,
a prolific song writer with over two hundred songs to her credit.
She also co-wrote A Touch Of India, with Martin Denny .Caress and
Allegra’s Eyes were co-written with Scott Seely, pianist,
arranger and composer. Since 1965 he has co-written fifteen songs
with me. Scott was also an arranger and producer for the great
Nick Lucas.
The songs in this CD were recorded between 1969 and 1985.

Merrill And His Hawaiian Guitars Buddy Merrill visited Hawaii with the Lawrence Welk
Orchestra in 1955 . While in Hawaii he became "in tune"
with the Hawaiian style of playing the steel guitar.
In this album Buddy features some of the great standard
songs, "Trade Winds" written by Clif Friend and Charlie
Tobias, and "Under A Coconut Tree" which he co-wrote with Curtis Ramsey and George Thow.
The album also introduces new Hawaiian songs,"Blue Paradise" and "On Rainbow Island" which Buddy co-wrote with Marian McGuire, and "Winds Of The Sea" co-written with
Scott Seely who also wrote, "Tahitian Sunset" arranged by
Buddy Merrill.

Buddy Merrill's utilization of
his multiple guitars is unique in the recording world .At
times he will use a single lead against a block of four,five
or six guitars playing as a section. Sometime he will use
a myriad of other combinations involving bass guitars,
steel guitars, flat-top guitars and two speed effects.

PHASES is a collection of Buddy's
compositions with the exception of "Vanessa ",
and represents some of his best work. Most of the recordings
are orchestral ,displaying his outstanding arrangements
and the many combinations of electric and acoustic guitars
combined with other effects which make for extremely unique
sounds . "Song Of Sirocco" and "Space Boogie
Blues" are two of the highlights on this album.
